DEWA URGES CUSTOMERS TO LIVE LIFE WITH CONSERVATION IN MIND

Dubai 20th December: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is urging people across the emirate to live their lives with conservation in mind by encouraging every individual to take their own responsibility to help preserve our precious resources and sustain planet earth.

Part of the DEWA ‘365 Day & Night’ integrated communication platform launched on 10/10/10, the ‘call-for-action’ campaign by DEWA to encourage people to change their behaviour towards utility consumption, comes at a time when the demand on natural resources across the emirate is at an all-time high.

Speaking about the initiative, H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, stated, “As important as it is for DEWA to provide world-class and uninterrupted services to its customers, it is equally important that our customers make energy conservation a key part of their daily lives.

“Our duty, either individuals or organizations, is to work hand in hand with customers and to conserve our natural resources as well as protecting the environment through rationalizing our consumption of electricity and water so that the culture of conservation becomes an inherit part of all consumers from different divisions,” H.E. Al Tayer added.

“The success of the DEWA ‘Conservation Award – For a Better Tomorrow’, now in its sixth year, and DEWA ‘Best Consumer Award are proven examples where the authority’s commitment to preserving precious resources - for the cause of its residents’ and nation’s well-being - has been successfully adopted by consumers in educational institutions and residential categories.”

On his part, Engineer/ Abdullah Al Hajri – EVP of Customer Service explained: “The “Hand in Hand” initiative aims at the cooperation of the consumers with the Authority by adopting conservation as a way of life and regard it as a refined civilized conduct. In addition, we aim through this initiative to urge consumers to respond to the objectives of our conservative and educative campaigns in order to conserve the consumption of resources presented by the Authority through different channels of communication such as lectures, workshops, engagement programs, field visits to schools and both government and private institutions, etc.”

Amal Koshak, Senior Manager, Demand & Tariff Management, commented: “This campaign is about making consumers realise the importance of taking moral responsibility to safeguard our natural resources. DEWA would like to see every resident in the emirate live their life with conservation in mind. If we all take responsibility for making, small energy saving measures daily, then together we will make a big difference in this invaluable endeavour”.
