Abu-Ghazaleh Elected Co-chair of Global Challenges Forum

The Global Challenges Forum (GCF) was launched on Nov. 17, 2010 in Geneva as a unique organization of think tanks, research centers and academic institutions, with the goal of contributing to the much-needed resolution of existing and future global challenges


GENEVA, Switzerland------ December 18, 2010 --------- The Global Challenges Forum (GCF) was launched on Nov. 17, 2010 in Geneva as a unique organization of think tanks, research centers and academic institutions, with the goal of contributing to the much-needed resolution of existing and future global challenges.  To be organized as a “forum of forums,” the GCF will build on a diverse membership and world-wide network to propose solutions to global challenges such as economic security, environmental sustainability, and human well-being.

Recognizing the complexity, imminent risks and potential impacts of the 21st century problems and the need to develop more integrated, holistic and bottom-up approaches, representatives from strategy centers, academia, civil society, intergovernmental organizations and business participated in the launch meeting.

The organization will be domiciled in Geneva and the University of Geneva has agreed to host the annual GCF meeting.  A not-for-profit international association registered in Switzerland will be established by a Founders’ Committee.  HE Senator Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman and CEO of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization and head of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh School of Business (TAGSB) Advisory Board and Dr. Leonard Ferrari, Executive Vice President and Provost of the US Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) agreed to co-chair the Forum.
