DEMAND FOR OFFICE AND HOME STATIONERY ITEMS CONTINUES TO BOOST SALES

GLOBAL MARKET FOR STATIONERY PRODUCTS EXPECTED TO BE WORTH US$155.4 BILLION BY 2015, WITH DEMAND IN ASIA-PACIFIC REGION GROWING THE FASTEST

DUBAI - Driven by the growing demand for office and home stationery, prospects for the global market for stationery products are upbeat, with a new report by Global Industry Analysts, indicating that it will be worth US $155.4 billion by 2015.

Leading trade show and conference organiser Epoc Messe Frankfurt said that they intend to fully tap this market at the upcoming Paperworld Middle East, a tailor-made networking platform for the office and paper products industry, which makes its debut in the region in March, 2011.

“The current growth in the stationery and office product market is driven by the rise in demand for computer stationery and both home and office stationery products,” said Ahmed Pauwels, Chief Executive Officer of Epoc Messe Frankfurt. “These categories have grown thanks to the increasing use of computers in the work and home environments, especially while the completely paperless work environment has yet to evolve,” he added.

Demand for stationery products is the greatest in the North American and European markets, though the Asia-Pacific region is on a high-growth path too, riding on the rapid growth of economies in that region. In fact the region is expected to grow at a CAGR of 3.4% until 2015.

The greeting card industry is amongst the quickest growing in the paper stationery products sector. Despite the burgeoning of e-mail communications, demand for greeting cards for all sorts of special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries and various festivals continue to register impressive growth. The market for greeting cards is set to outpace the rest of the industry with the highest CAGR in the sector.

Paperworld Middle East, which will run from March 7 to 9, 2011 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, will feature a range of manufacturers and suppliers of stationery products including international leaders Hallmark and Archies.
