DM to launch Intelligent Telephone project "iDubai"

Dubai Municipality will be launching a new intelligent telephone project called "iDubai," which will be available on iPhones and Black Berries very soon. Through this project, residents as well as visitors will be able to get general information about Dubai Municipality and latest news updates from the Municipality. The user will be able to view Dubai map, which contains different service locations such as hotels, parks, hospitals, schools, police stations, and many other things.

Marwan Ibrahim Nasser, Head of Follow Up Office at the Director General's Office in Dubai Municipality gave a brief presentation on the project recently in front of Khalid Bin Sulayem, Director General of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and other officials of the department.

Nasser said the users will also be able to send iNotifications or suggestions uploading photos related to the incident with its GPS location.

In the iDubai Map, users can view about 1,000 locations in Dubai that include tourist locations and other service establishments such as hotels, banks and other service organizations.

There are search options by the name of the location. It is easy to access the required locations by going to them through the list of classifications. For example, if one goes to the hotels category and type Burj Khalifa, the address, telephone numbers, photos and map of Burj Khalifa will be shown on the screen. The information about the hotels will contain all details such as the number of rooms, rates, facilities and other related things.

In the iNotification section, one can send notifications about an incident or suggestions to improve the services or any other complaint regarding a particular facility. For example, if the user does not find enough parking at a certain location, he or she can send a suggestion on the need to have more parking in that area. The sender's name, email id and mobile number can be added.

In the iNotification section, the sender can also upload a picture taken using his or her phone. For example, if you find a damaged signboard in Jumeirah Beach, you can take its picture and give a description of the damage and send it. The location of the sender will automatically be displayed on the message, to which you will be sent an automated reply.

In the Dubai Municipality News section, the user will be updated with the latest news from the Municipality with photos as and when a news is uploaded on the Municipality website.

Nasser said many other new additions are planned for the project for the future such as inquiry about Municipality fines, job vacancies and link with the recruitment system, surfing for used cars with the Automarket and the events coming up in the month.

Bin Sulayem praised the project and offered further cooperation with Dubai Municipality regarding the development and implementation of the project.
