LG CALLING ON GAMERS IN UAE’S FIRST 3D GAMING COMPETITION

Gamers to vie for daily, weekly, monthly and Mega Champion prizes

Dubai, Aug. 1, 2011 – LG is inviting gamers of all ages and abilities to take on the ultimate challenge by competing in the region’s first 3D gaming competition. Starting on Saturday, 6 August at the Living Rooms video game café in Dubai Festival City, participants will vie for the ultimate accolade of being crowned the UAE’s first 3D gaming champion.
Over the course of six months, participants will battle it out across four different 3D games on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. The Mega Championship showdown on 6, January 2012 will bring the 3D Gaming Festival to a close with the announcement of the UAE’s first-ever 3D gaming champion.
“LG is continually looking for innovative ways to engage its fan base with breakthrough technologies. We want the 3D Gaming Festival to raise the profile of 3D gaming in the region and show that the CINEMA 3D SMART TV is the television of choice for 3D gamers,” said Mr. H.S. Paik, President of LG Electronics Gulf FZE.
The Mega Champion will receive a 3D prize package including a 42" LG Cinema 3D TV, an LG 3D laptop, an LG Optimus 3D mobile phone, a gaming console, a T-shirt, cap and 3D Gaming Festival trophy, and the bragging rights that go with being the UAE’s 3D gaming champion.
Participants can choose from four games including Michael Jackson ‘The Experience’, Call of Duty, FIFA Soccer ‘11, as well as Dirt 3.
All games in the competition will be played on LG’s recently launched CINEMA 3D SMART TV using an advanced 2D to 3D conversion feature. 3D gamers will play in greater comfort with lightweight polarized glasses and a bright flicker-free picture, due to LG’s patented FPR (Film Patterned Retarder) and Light Boost technology.
Gamers using the LG CINEMA 3D SMART TV can easily play games online and access other Internet content on demand including video, social networks and premium apps. Etisalat’s “OnDemand”, the world’s first managed IPTV Video On Demand Service without a set top box, and ‘OnWeb’, the new web-based video service, will also be available to LG Cinema 3D Smart TV owners connected to Etisalat’s fiber-optic network.
Registration for the competition is now open. To enter, candidates can log on to the LG Gulf Fan Club Facebook page at www.facebook.com/lggulffanclub. Participants can take part only once in any game within the same week.
