TOYE KENNING & SPENCER TAKES CRAFT SKILLS TO IDEX 2011

Toye Kenning & Spencer, a 325-year old family-run manufacturer of military identity products, will be introducing its innovative infra-red badges to the military sector at IDEX 2011.

Developed with Master Technologies in collaboration with the University of Bradford to Toye Kenning & Spencer’s own specification, the IR badges are more robust and resistant to damage than more traditional designs.  The IR capability is embedded in black polyester or coloured nylon threads and the badges are currently being trialled by the UK’s Ministry of Defence (MoD).

“We enjoyed IDEX 2009, making a number of valuable contacts and seeing sales success as a result,” explained Fiona Toye.  “This is why we have chosen this opportunity to show our infra-red badges to this sector for the first time.”

The company will also be exhibiting its acclaimed range of uniform accoutrements, accessories and equipment to IDEX 2011.

Emphasising its values of superb craft skills, quality and service as well as its British heritage, the company is exhibiting the complete clothing solutions it provides, including everything from bespoke ceremonial uniforms to combat and working dress.  Toye Kenning & Spencer provides this comprehensive range by complementing its own skills and capabilities with those of its partners, who are the best of the UK’s manufacturers in this area.

Toye Kenning & Spencer has a strong track record of successfully delivering large scale contracts, from the initial order through to distribution.  This encompasses the talents of the company’s in-house design team, which is skilled in creating uniforms and regalia that match customers’ specifications.

Clive Lunn, former naval commander and director of international and military sales director at Toye, Kenning & Spencer, said: “Since our formation in 1685 we have supplied high quality military identity products including buttons, medals and medal ribbons, state insignia, regalia, headwear and embossed, embroidered and metal accoutrements.  Add to this the background of our team and it is no wonder we really understand the requirements of defence and homeland security forces around the globe.

“At IDEX 2011 we will display our expertise showing examples of medals, buttons, embroidered, embossed and woven badges, hats and caps, medal ribbons and mine field tape.”

Toye Kenning & Spencer is an approved Ministry of Defence (AQAP 4 Standard) supplier and holds a Royal Warrant to Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II for the supply of gold and silver laces, insignia and embroidery. It manufactures honours, decorations and medals presented at investitures.

The company supplies a number of countries in the Gulf region and is currently developing turn-key uniform solutions for the armed forces of two overseas governments.  It works with blue chip UK charities associated with the British defence forces, designing, manufacturing and helping to market their gift range.  It also supplies specialist ribbon in significant quantities to military organisations in the USA, Canada and Australia.
