Minister of Trade and Industry Seeks UAE Partners for Mutual
Benefit and Development of Business, Cultural and Personal
Ties Between Two Nations -
[Dubai, 14 February 2011] Namibia’s Ministry of Trade and Industry has announced the
holding of its first “Namibia Trade & Investment Forum” in the United Arab Emirates, which
will be held on the 21st and 22nd of February, 2011 in Dubai at the Sheraton Dubai Creek
Hotel & Towers.
The initiative, led by the Namibian Ministry of Trade and Industry, will see a high-profile
government and business delegation from Namibia visit Dubai for the holding of an
open “Namibia Trade & Investment Forum”, as well as a succession of meetings with
leading U.A.E. commercial leaders and industry heads. Headed by the Honourable
Dr. Hage Geingob, Namibian Minister of Trade and Industry, and Namibia’s first Prime
Minister since the country’s independence in 1990, the 45 delegates represent Namibia’s
government and commercial elite and include delegates from; the Ministry of Agriculture,
Water & Forestry, the Ministry of Fisheries & Marine Resources, the Ministry of Works
& Transport, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the Ministry of Home Affairs and
Immigration, the Namibia Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NCCI), the Namibia Tourism
Board, and key industry and commercial heads from Namibia’s Mining & Energy sector,
Transport Infrastructure & Logistics sector, Finance & Banking, Tourism, Agriculture and
Construction & General Trading sectors.
An open invitation is extended to all interested government and business representatives
in the UAE to attend the “Namibia Trade & Investment Forum” on February 21st, 2011,
where a series of short presentations will be given by ministry and industry representatives
highlighting the unique investment and business opportunities available in Namibia for
government organizations, companies and other business entities in the UAE. Following
the presentations participants will be invited to a networking lunch, following which
interested parties will be invited to hold one-to-one meetings with potential partners both for
the remainder of the day and through February 22nd.
Says the Namibian Minister for Trade & Industry, the Honourable Dr.
Hage Geingob; “Namibia is a young and vibrant nation rich in resources and culture.
Through the “Namibia Trade and Investment Forum” we will highlight both the excellent
investment and business opportunities that Namibia has to offer, as well as create a
productive setting for the government and business representatives of the UAE to establish
a meaningful relationship with the industry leaders of our country. It is my fervent wish that
the “Namibia Trade and Investment Forum” will provide a catalyst for the development of
business, cultural and personal ties between our two nations, for the mutual benefit of all
involved for many years to come.”
