Gulf Bike Week - Featuring Concerts, Stunts, a Charity Bike Ride, Competitions, Exhibitions and Much More




Dubai-UAE: February 6, 2011 – Bike enthusiasts and families can look forward to a line-up of activities that is sure to excite and entertain as the Gulf Bike Week stages an electrifying return from 10 to 12 February, 2011, at Dubai Festival City.

To be held under the patronage of His Excellency Mohammed Bin Sulayem, FIA Vice-President for Sport and President of the Automobile & Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE), Gulf Bike Week 2011 is organized by Clarion Events Middle East in partnership with Dubai Shopping Festival.  

Besides a plethora of biking events, stunt shows, riding activities and the motorcycles themselves, this year’s edition of the Gulf Bike Week will feature Grammy award winning star singer Amy Winehouse. Also promised are other action-packed shows and activities for all the family, and performances from major international bands.

Additionally, a highlight of this year is the Charity Bike Ride - an essential part of Gulf Bike Week, which will bring together an exceptional community of individuals to help raise awareness for Autism. Motorcycle clubs from across the GCC will be coming to support this worthy cause. The ride is scheduled to take place on 11 February 2011, and well over 1,000 bikes are expected.
 
Super Moto racing, also referred to as Supermotard, has an elite collection of riders contending on both on-road and off-road tracks. The KTM Super Moto Live circuit during the Gulf Bike Week will see professional riders compete on a course specifically designed to highlight their skills. The competition, with a combination of speed, excitement and danger, is designed to draw gasps of awed amazement from the audience and unveil just one rider as the ultimate biker.

Integral to the Gulf Bike Week is the Red Bull FMX Stunt Area where spectators can witness incredible jumps and stunts. The participating high-flying daredevil bikers will thrill, excite and amaze the audience in the second Red Bull Freestyle Motocross by Red Bull.

Gulf Bike Week, an affiliate of the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building, welcomes anyone with a desire to build quality custom bikes to compete and showcase their skill, artistry, passion and genuine love for motorcycles. The winner will be given an opportunity to enter the winning custom bike into the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in the USA and compete against the best custom bike builders in the world.

The best local skateboarders and BMX riders will converge at the ‘Rage Zone’ in Dubai Festival City. Competing for action sports supremacy, these contestants will battle in a variety of divisions and age groups, creating a platform for a cross range of contenders. In addition, the Rage team will conduct skating clinics and demonstrations for action sports enthusiasts.
 
The much celebrated and acclaimed ‘in show’ Bike Park is once again to make a stunning appearance at the Gulf Bike Week. Set in the very heart of the show the ‘in show’ Bike Park is open to all motorcycle clubs from across the region and also to all individual bike owners who are not affiliated to a club.

The popular and customary musical finale to the Gulf Bike Week will be led by a performance by Grammy award winner Amy Winehouse. Also performing will be international superstar Pharrell Williams with his band N*E*R*D, and special guest Mike Posner - adding musical variety and excitement to the event. Fresh talent will also capture the arena, as a spirited Rolling Stone Middle East ‘Battle of the Bands’ contest will be held on the Rolling Stone Stage on 11 and 12 February, resulting in two exceptionally memorable nights.

The 6,800 sq m exhibition marquee is expected to draw in over 40,000 visitors. It will showcase the very latest in sport bikes, cruisers, off-road and all-terrain vehicles, apparel, accessories, custom-designed bikes and motorcycle-related products, as well as major international lifestyle brands from more than 150 leading manufacturers including Harley Davidson, Ducati, BMW, Honda, Polaris, KTM, Liberty Kawasaki, Zoo York and Ed Hardy.

Gulf Bike Week is the Middle East’s only dedicated motorbike exhibition and supports a market that is worth over $1.75 billion regionally and is poised to grow, with the KSA and UAE expected to maintain the majority of the region’s market share.
