UAE LOGISTICS SECTOR SET TO CROSS US$9.5 BILLION BY 2014

With recent developments and initiatives in the logistics industry, the UAE is reaffirming its position as a

leading international trade centre and logistics hub for the region. Materials Handling Middle East reflects

the latest trends and developments within the logistics and materials handling industries and receives strong

interest from manufacturers, suppliers, agencies and government institutions from across the region.

According to recent market research, the revenues generated from the UAE’s logistics market are expected to

hit US$9.5 billion in 2014, representing an 8.2 % hike from 2010 stats; US$7.03 billion.

There are always several core factors driving the growth of the sector. In the UAE, it is definitely the country’s

infrastructure playing an important role. The growth, primarily driven by the UAE's prime location, is being led

by a number of factors including the latest Dubai airport.

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman Dubai Airports, President, Dubai Department of Civil

Aviation and Chairman and CEO, Emirates has once again pledged his support for Materials Handling Middle

East. The bi-annual trade exhibition covering the logistics, supply chain, freight and cargo industries will be

held this year from September 25th to 27th at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Mr Ahmed Pauwels, CEO, Epoc Messe Frankfurt, organiser of Materials Handling Middle East,

commented: “The support of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed is invaluable to us. We are working hard to ensure the

delivery of a high quality, focused event in September and with this support we will build further on the show’s

momentum. The transportation and logistics market in this region is a dynamic one with bountiful opportunities

“This is a diverse and expansive industry which holds plentiful opportunities. UAE has always celebrated its

strong trade heritage from the past right through to the present day and we are confident that, driven by these

most recent developments, this strong heritage will help to propel the industry’s growth.” He added.

The exhibition provides the ideal opportunity for manufacturers and service providers from across the globe to

penetrate the Middle East market. As a result, it also ensures that the region has access to the latest trends

and technology available, with a host of product launches for the region taking place at the trade event.

Materials Handling Middle East is pleased to confirm the participation of market leaders Carl Stahl, Span

Group with their range of Jungheinrich products, SSI Schaeffer, Interroll, Euroroll and Schoeller to name

a few. This year’s exhibition will welcome over 250 exhibitors presenting a wide range of products from
