MECSC to host Successful Restaurant Leasing Workshop

Program Ideal for Shopping Centre, Mixed-use Development and Hospitality Industry Professionals

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, March 30, 2011: The Middle East Council of Shopping Centres (MECSC) announced today that they will be hosting a one-day workshop on Successful Restaurant Leasing & Operations Techniques on May 3, 2011 at the Pullman Dubai Mall of The Emirates, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The workshop is designed to teach shopping centre and hospitality professionals how to successfully lease space to restaurants and manage these unique tenants.

“With the highest frequency of customer visits of any type of retail store, restaurants are essential to driving foot traffic and sales whether it is at an airport, a mall or a hotel.  Yet, restaurant leases are complex and there are many things a property owner or manager needs to know about crafting restaurant leases. MECSC is pleased to be hosting this very important workshop for our members throughout the Middle East and we are confident that participants will learn how to write restaurant leases that significantly contribute to the bottom- line,” explained Sheryl Rebello, Conference and Exhibition Manager, MECSC.

Taught by Paul G. W Fetscher CCIM, SCLS, President of Great American Brokerage, a consulting firm that specializes in restaurant and retail development, the workshop will give participants the knowledge they need to plan and manage an effective and viable collection of restaurant tenants whether it be in a shopping centre or hotel. “Different styles of restaurants are appropriate for different types of environments, and knowing which will work where is an art and a science,” Mr. Fetscher explained.

Drawing on over thirty years of industry experience, Mr. Fetscher will examine and evaluate restaurant tenant lease terms and operating data; show participants how to accumulate consumer and trade area data and apply the findings properly; establish key operational and performance tracking metrics for restaurant tenants, and monitor the pulse of consumer patterns and preferences.
