DM receives 350 abstracts for third International Architectural Conservation Conference & Exhibition 2012



Architectural Heritage Department of Dubai Municipality in coordination with Turret Media is set
to organize the third International Architectural Conservation Conference & Exhibition from 17-19
December 2012 at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre under the patronage of
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance
and Chairman of Dubai Municipality.

The event will highlight the role of the national and international conservation community to
preserve cultural sites and learn the modern practical aspects of how to preserve cultural heritage
and historic areas, as well as study the impact of architectural conservation policies on the potential
role of cities to achieve urban development that combine the present and the future.

The exhibition will also serve as a platform to exchange knowledge and expertise and to unify
the energies of professional conservation community on the national and international level.
Moreover, participants will have the opportunity to gain expertises from the presented successful
stories such as the introduction of cultural heritage conservation in the educational system at
various levels.

Rashad Bukhash, Director of Architectural Heritage Department and Chairman of the organising
committee of the exhibition said that the committee received more than 360 abstracts from 39
countries around the world.

“The topics of the abstracts varied according to the five different conference themes: policies,
strategies and decision making in historic environment, economics of conservation and sustainable
environment, cultural development and awareness, management of cultural heritage in historic
area, and project implementation and practical aspects of urban conservation,” Rashad said.
