Painting Lines of Luxury: Goodwood Artist visits Abu Dhabi to paint coachline on a Rolls-Royce Ghost

Leading seller of the richest bespoke specifications in the world goes to new heights

 

Abu Dhabi, UAE: Whether it is the effortless glamour, prestige or the sheer elation that ownership of a bespoke Rolls-Royce commission inspires, the luxury car maker continues to lead the way in producing unique and exceptional cars.

As the sole dealer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, Abu Dhabi Motors recently welcomed the brand’s only free-hand coachline artist based in Goodwood to its showroom. Following a request from one of the importer’s prestigious clients who had previously admired another model’s coachline, Mark Court and his team flew direct from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ manufacturing plant in the United Kingdom to expertly paint fine lines entirely by hand on the coachline of the customer’s Rolls-Royce Ghost.

Having painted in the region of 2000 coachlines throughout his career to-date, Mr Court’s skill is a symbol of Rolls-Royce’s quality and uncompromising craftsmanship. His brushes are custom-made, cut to a specific width and length and made entirely from squirrel hair.

Commenting on his unique role, Mr Court said: “I load the brush and pull a certain length of the car. The skill is to actually lose the joint - you won’t see a joint line on these. I get huge satisfaction from every one that I do, especially knowing that I am the last person to touch this car before it goes out the door. I am the only one in Goodwood who does this job, and am currently training my son so I can pass it on to him.”
