Confederation of Indian
Industry is organized a Session on Cyber Security from 1000 Hrs - 1300 Hrs on
31 January 2013 at Taj Gateway Hotel, Kochi with the theme
‘Emerging Cyber Threats and Challenges’.
This awareness session
highlighted perspectives on Cyber Security related issues and its legal aspects
from Government and Corporate side.
The
session had deliberations from Mr N Vinayakumaran Nair, Assistant
Commandant Hitech Cell, Kerala Police, Mr C Balan, Joint
Director, Resource Centre for Cyber Forensics, C-DAC, Mr Johnson K Jose, Assistant
General Manager – IT, Federal Bank Ltd, Mr Yash KS, Founder & Chief
Technology Officer, Red Force Labs.
Mr Vinayakumaran Nair
gave the audience a glimpse of Cyber Laws and the IT act. Mr C Balan, who handles Cyber Forensics at CDAC, Trivandrum , gave a snapshot of how cyber
crimes are dealt with by them and the technicalities involved in handling Cyber
Crimes. Mr Nitin Nair from Ernst
& Young presented about the Global Information security Survey that E&Y
conducts worldwide. Mr Johnson K Jose from Federal Bank briefed the audience about how
Information Security is handled in the Banking Sector. He opined that creating
an awareness about Cyber Crimes is the first step in preventing such crimes.
Finally, Mr Yash KS, an Information
Security Expert and a Ethical Hacker from Red Force Labs, Bengaluru gave the
crowd an idea as to how vulnerable the common man as well organizations are to
Cyber Attacks
This awareness session was
well attended by professionals from various sectors of the industry as well as
students of Information Technology, Computer Science and Business Management.
