Yalla Walk – Every step is Reward initiative gets big response

“Yalla Walk – Every step is Reward” initiative announced by Dubai Municipality has been witnessing wide
response from the public for registering their name to participate in the event.

Yousif Murad Salimeen, Acting Director of Corporate Marketing and Relations said that each participant would
be given the welcome pack, which includes a pedometer, T-shirt, manual and information leaflet. Participants
can update their walked distance through online, municipality hotline or registration centres

“The event will take place across five allotted walking tracks namely: Al Safa, Al Mamza, Al Barsha, Khawaneej
and Zabeel. The month long programme will comprise a number of activities such as charitable fundraising,
entertainment, promotional giveaways, free food, soft beverages, as well as Yalla Walk giveaways and gifts,”
Yousif said.

The initiative supported by Al Maktoum Foundation and Al Fattan Properties will kick off at the beginning of
Ramadan in the public parks of Dubai. The move is aimed at educating the public about healthy habits during
Ramadan, raising charity funds and encouraging people to walk in any of walking tracks across Dubai.

Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality said that the launch of this initiative came
after the good results and reputation of past Yalla Walk campaigns, organized by the civic body and widely
acclaimed by all participants. This initiative is expected to be the largest awareness campaign that attracts
the public to the walking tracks, in the Emirate of Dubai. Municipality has more plans to provide other health
related facilities in future based on the response from the public in this event.

The Yalla Walk initiative was established to promote walking, as an easy and economic way to stay fit and
healthy that people can easily apply into their day-to-day life. Municipality has provided residents with 33 safe
and accessible walking tracks in urban and rural contexts.

“The campaign aims to help the needy people and promote walking as well as to support charity under the
slogan “Each step is a Reward’, and the doors are open for institutions and individuals to help raise the charity
fund by supporting the Municipality in this initiative,” Lootah said.

Participants can raise the funds allocated by Municipality and its partners by merely walking. The more
participants collectively walk at any of the walking tracks; the more funds are raised for the charity. Distances
will be recorded on individual pedometers, supplied to participants upon initial registration.
