Medical laboratories should be certified by DM

 Accreditation Department at Dubai Municipality has recently organized a large gathering of its customers from medical laboratories operating in the country.  200 representatives of laboratories attended the meeting. It came as part of the cooperation agreement signed by Municipality with Dubai Health Authority in March to provide the accreditation service for Medical laboratories operating in Dubai. Hence, Health Authority has mandated the certification for all medical laboratories in the emirate, including laboratories of clinics by the end of the year. Amina Ahmed, Director of Accreditation Department said that this initiative comes as part of Municipality’s strategy in the process of continuous development in the field of providing quality services. It also aims to introduce the terms of application for International Standard ISO 15189 for accrediting medical laboratories. This meeting is considered as a direct communication channel that allows to identify the needs of customers and their opinions regarding the functions of the Department's work and it is the third meeting in a series of meetings organized by the Department annually with its customers.   It is worth mentioning that the number of medical laboratories accredited by Municipality has increased significantly during the current year, amounting to 20 Laboratories.
