Doha, October 18, 2009: As part of its commitment to contribute to the ongoing professional development of its staff, IBQ announced today the launch of an innovative internal leadership programme. “Learn to Lead: Leadership Evolution,” a 12-month training programme, will provide 24 senior IBQ employees with the tools to improve their skills in critical areas such as leadership, decision-making, communication and project management among others.
Facilitated by IBQ in association with Mentis, an international consulting firm specialising in assessment and development to improve organisational performance, this custom-made training programme will include group workshops and individual sessions delivered by external well renowned leadership trainers, as well as monthly review meetings with the bank’s Human Resources Department. The programme is accredited to the Institute of Leadership Management (ILM).
“We are delighted to announce the launch of ‘Learn to Lead: Leadership Evolution,’ which will contribute to the professional development of our staff and, just as important, the quality of services we provide our customers,” said George Nasra, Managing Director, IBQ. “This long-term investment in the leadership skills of our employees has been designed to build knowledge, enhance behaviour and provide tools so that our employees understand and practice authentic leadership.”
“At IBQ, we are convinced that enhanced communication, decision-making and overall leadership skills are critical to sustaining our long-term institutional success,” he said. “We also acknowledge that this can only be achieved through a sustained investment in our most valuable resource – our people.”
Nasra concluded: “As Qatar remains firmly on the path to unprecedented economic growth and diversification, we recognise the importance of positioning IBQ as an employer of choice, so that we continue to attract and retain the highest-quality professionals. By investing in the development of our staff, we ensure that the bank remains a leader today and tomorrow.”
