The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) that will facilitate the licensing and classification of hotels and other tourism-related activities by the department at the free zone technology park.
The agreement was signed at the DTCM Head Office on Wednesday by Mr. Khalid A bin Sulayem, DTCM Director General, and Dr. Mohammed Al Zarouni, Chief Executive Officer of DSOA, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
According to the agreement, DTCM will take the responsibility for licensing and categorizing hotels according to the DTCM regulations. It will also ensure the implementation of all other procedures related to tourism events activities.
Mr. bin Sulayem said: “The agreement is in line within the framework of cooperation and strategic partnerships that DTCM had signed with government organizations to enhance the tourism industry standards and services. This MoU will go a long way in enlarging the scope of tourism industry in the emirate and help regulate the hospitality sector for overall betterment of Dubai’s tourism product offering.”
He said the partnership between DTCM and DSOA will help create greater synergies for upgrading tourism standards and regulations for the hospitality sector which has been expanding enormously. The agreement will help provide best of class services and support for companies aspiring to develop hospitality ventures within the DSO.
DSOA is the regulatory body for Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), a free zone technology park for semiconductor, microelectronics and other high technology-based companies. DTCM is the sole licensing body for hotels, hotel apartments, tour operators and tourism-related businesses.
