Dubai, UAE, 6thAugust 2011 – This Eid, The World at her feet group, a new travel experience for women
in the Middle East, takes a journey of discovery to the beautiful island of Sri-Lanka. A small country that
offers an enormous variety of quintessentially Asian experiences, Sri Lanka is dotted with ruins from
ancient Buddhist empires, including serene, gigantic Buddha figures, as well as dagobas, white-painted
domed shrines ranging from just a few meters tall to immense, imposing structures; You can see the
architectural influences dating from the Portuguese, Dutch and British colonial periods, which lasted
from the first European arrival in 1505 through to its Independence in 1948.
Departing Dubai on 1st September 2011, this is a seven day trip that will explore Kandy which is situated
on the hills surrounding a huge artificial lake and reachable by a scenic train ride from Colombo, Sri
Lanka’s cultural capital. Kandy is the home of one of the most venerated temples in Sri Lanka, the
Dalada Maligawa or Temple of the Tooth and this is certainly a must see spot. Not to miss is a visit
to Pennewala Elephant Orphanage which offers a great chance to see live once at close quarters;
orphaned, abandoned or injured infant elephants that are reared and trained and catch them during
bathing time in the river. A complete itinerary includes a trip to Nuwara Eliya. Nestled 6,200 ft above sea
level, amid lush tea plantations, Nuwara Eliya is a charming hill station developed by the British planters
in the late 1800s
