Architectural Heritage Department with Dubai Municipality, in association with Architectural Heritage Association UAE conducted a lecture to commemorate Sheikh Sultan Al Qanuni. The commemorative lecture held at Dar Al Nadwa in Al Bastakiya was delivered by Abdul Aziz Mohammed Saleh, history researcher with the Department.
The program titled as ‘Life and times of Sulaiman Al Qanuni, ruler of three continents’ was convened as a part of year long programs Department carry out, to spread cultural and historic awareness within various sections of the society.
Lecture dealt with the life and times of Sultan Suleiman the magnificent, as Western discourse refer him. His works , political ascendance, style of ruling and his contribution to the history of Law were well explained in the lecture.
The lecturer Mr. Abdul Azeez Mohammed Saleh Al Shehi has Bachelors in modern history and MBA from University of Istanbul .He had worked in several positions at Ministry of Education before he joined the Department as a researcher in history .He had been a prominent contributor to the academic syllabuses especially that of social sciences’, in the UAE. He has written a book on the history of UAE in collaboration with some other researchers and experts.
