Dubai, 25th July 2011: In six weeks time the sixth edition of DOMOTEX Middle East will open its doors to the best in the floor covering industry and will also feature a special showcase of the traditional carpet making trade in Afghanistan. Exclusive hand knotted Afghani carpets, which are created as part of the Tanweer Fatma Bint Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Initiative (FBMI), a UAE carpet production and community development project in Afghanistan, will be a feature of DOMOTEX Middle East 2011, the region’s annual showpiece event, dedicated to the floor covering industry, will be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 12th to 14th September 2011. Tanweer FBMI is a partnership between Tanweer investments and Her Highness Shaikha Fatma Bint Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the UAE which aims to alleviate poverty through grass root level delivery of community based development programs that lead to enhanced standards of living. The exclusive hand knotted carpets are created by Afghanistan artisans, predominantly women, and are hand woven using indigenous Afghan wool with chemical-free vegetable dye.
