7 parks to be opened in residential neighborhoods; DM observes 31st Plantation Week




Dubai Police Chief, Lt. Gen. Dhahi Khalfan Tamim on Sunday opened the newly constructed Sufooh Park as part of Dubai Municipality's celebrations to mark the 31st Plantation Week, which will run until 10th March. The civic body has arranged a range of programmes and activities on the occasion including opening of seven residential neighbourhood parks.
Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality, Eng. Salah Amiri, Assistant Director General of Dubai Municipality for Environmental and Public Health Services Sector, Eng. Essa Al Maidour, Assistant Director General for Engineering and Planning Sector, Eng. Mohammed AbdulKarim Julfar, Assistant Director General for Corporate Support Services Sector, Abdullah Rafea, Assistant Director General for General Support Services Sector, Ahmed AbdulKarim, Director of Public Parks and Horticulture Department and a large number of senior officials, invitees and employees of the Public Parks and Horticulture Department and some horticultural companies were present on the occasion.
AbdulKarim said the park, built at a cost of Dhs8.6 million, is classified in the group of neighborhood parks. The Sufooh Park, spread on a total area of 1.5 hectares (approximately 15,000 square metres), is dedicated and designed to serve the residents of the Al Sufouh area.
The park with special engineering features is designed according to the latest system of landscaping, which is characterized by simplicity and non-repetition. It was designed in coordination with the General Projects Department, and a national company carried out the construction and civil works and installation of irrigation network. The horticultural work has been carried out by the Projects Implementation Unit of the Horticulture Section within a period 45 days.
