Dubai International Academic City-Based Universities Feature among Top 100 Business Schools in Financial Times MBA 2011 Rankings

Dubai-UAE: 15 February, 2011 – MBA programmes offered by universities based at Dubai International Academic City, a member of TECOM Investments’ Education Cluster and the region’s leading destination for international higher education, have made it to the prestigious Global MBA Rankings listed annually by the London-based Financial Times.
Hult International Business School (US/ UK/ UAE/ China) has been ranked 61, while the Global MBA programme of SP Jain Center of Management (Dubai/Singapore) has bagged the 68th spot on the 2011 list of 100 best business programmes released in February.
Other ranked universities that have branch campuses in DIAC include the Manchester Business School (UK) placed 29th in the world, and the Bradford School of Management/TiasNimbas Business School (UK/ Netherlands/ Germany) as 90th on the Financial Times list.
Congratulating the featured academic partners, Dr. Ayoub Kazim, Managing Director, TECOM Investments’ Education Cluster, said: “The presence of our partners in the prestigious Financial Times ranking validates the high quality management institutions that have chosen to establish their presence at Dubai International Academic City. These premium institutions offer the regional student community a valuable opportunity to access the world’s best management programmes.”

Hult International Business School has climbed the Financial Times Global MBA Rankings for the second consecutive year to reach 61st place, propelled forward after clinching the top slot in ‘International Experience’, among the top 20 in ‘Careers’, and the fifth ranking in ‘International Business’.

Stephen Hodges, President of Hult International Business School, said: “Hult is rapidly consolidating its status as a leading global institution for educating tomorrow’s corporate leaders. Ambitious people who are looking for an MBA that can put them with the world’s international business elite should seriously consider joining the programme at Hult.

“Our high ranking in the Careers section shows the success of Hult’s insistence that its MBA programme should put business experience on an equal footing with theoretical teaching. An MBA programme is not about escaping from your career for a year or two – it’s about investing valuable time in accelerating your career.”

Prof. Christopher Abraham, Head of Dubai Campus and Senior Vice-President for Institutional Development, SP Jain Center of Management, said: “I am delighted that S.P. Jain Center of Management (Dubai/Singapore) has achieved this historic accolade. We have been ranked 68th in the world, seventh in Asia, ninth in the world on ‘Value for Money’ and 13th in the world for ‘International Mobility’ by Financial Times in its 2011 Global MBA Rankings.

“We are in the top two per cent of business schools worldwide amongst over 5,000 academic institutions. Secondly, every school on the list has had many more years than us to make their mark. As a six-year old institution, we are the youngest of the pack.”

The Financial Times Global MBA Rankings are based on 20 criteria in three main areas – alumni salaries and career development, the diversity and international reach of a business school and its MBA programme, as well as the research capabilities of a school. To be ranked, business schools need to be certified by an accreditation body. They would have to be operational for at least four years with at least 30 students in each graduating class.
